Nicole graduated from FIDM in Product Development and worked for Tavik (a swimwear brand) before branching off to create her own label — Beach Riot. Beach Riot is known for their swimwear and has since then created lifestyle pieces and their own activewear line, Sport Riot. Their designs are both functional yet chic.

Let’s move on to the Beach Riot review of their leggings.

Beach Riot Review: Harper Leggings in Rainbow Star

I LOVE Beach Riot’s bikinis so figured I might love their activewear too. I tried both their Jade (rainbow stripe) and Harper (rainbow studded stars) leggings from the Sport Riot collection. I ended up falling in love with the Harper leggings. The striped Jade leggings did not look good on my curvy body (because I am knock knee’d).

#1 Size: I purchased my true size in Beach Riot. I wear a size SMALL in Beach Riot. I am a size 6 in Lululemon for size reference. The leggings fit tight at first but after a yoga class and they stretched enough to fit my body comfortably.

#2 Style:  Beach Riot offers swimwear, dresses, rompers, 2-piece outfits, sports bras, leggings and tees/tanks. Their activewear line is named Sport Riot.

#3 Inseam:  The inseam of my leggings measures 27″. I am 5’5″ and experienced some bunching at my ankles. Hemming the pant more than 1/4″ would cut off some of the design. Inseam is made with an overlocked stitch.

#4 Rise: The pants have a high-rise fit and sat on top of my navel. Front rise measures 9″ and back measures 10″.

#5 Waistband: The tall waistband measures 5″ and is really tall. It hugs everything in and has a slimming effect. The tall waistband prevented slippage during class and normal wear.

#6 Fabric

• Fabric Content: 83% Polyester and 17% Spandex blend
• Fabric Feel: The fabric feels thin, soft, and lightweight. Beach Riot’s sport fabric feels exactly like K-Deer spandex. The starts are made of little plastic beads and glued onto the fabric surface. The colors are pastel and look bright and fun.
• Fabric Performance:
  • Quick Drying
  • Dry Wicking
  • 4-Way Stretch
  • Fabric does not pill.
  • Because the fabric is thin, it is not very compressive.
• Opacity: The leggings were 100% opaque. I was really impressed with how opaque the leggings were without being thick.
• Fabric Features:
  • No visible logo from the outside of the pant. There are two inner tags with care and product details.
  • No pockets.
  • Stars are symmetrical on both legs.

#7 When to Wear: Beach Riot leggings can be worn casually or while exercising. They are not compressive so I would recommend them for low to medium impact sports.

#8 Cost: The Harper leggings cost $120. Most Beach Riot leggings range from $84-$126.

#9 Gusset: Beach Riot leggings come with a diamond-shaped gusset that is reinforced with flat fell seams.

#10 Stitch Seam: Beach Riot leggings are made with both overlocked and flat-fell seams. The inseam is made with a plain overlocked seam.

#11 UPF Protection: Has sun protection but the amount is not known.

#12 Made in the USA.

#13 Care Instructions: I was my Beach Riot leggings inside out to prevent the design from rubbing on other articles of clothing and coming off. I use gentle detergent from Mrs. Meyers. Afterward, I hang to dry on a foldable drying rack such as this one. You can tumble dry the leggings but I choose to hang dry to prolong the life of the beaded stars.

Should I Buy Beach Riot?

I love how thin yet opaque Beach Riot leggings were. The leggings were lightweight and looked flattering on my body. The price point is a bit high, so I would only recommend these if you find a great deal. I’ve included some coupon codes you can use down below.

I also tried the matching Abby bra with rainbow stars. I sized up in the top but did not keep it because it fit me weird around the bra band area and created a lot of bulging.

Beach Riot’s swimwear is great too! I have a few bikinis and monokinis that I’ve been wearing for 5+ years.
