Updated: 7/27/2022 | How to Recreate a Spa at Home
Self care is so important. As we shifted from office work into a working from home (WFH) culture, we have been taking care of ourselves less. Slowly, work has blended into home life and the separation between work and home has been harder to define for many of us.
One way we ensure we recharge and re-energize from working is by creating a relaxing spa environment at home.
You don’t need a separate bedroom or to transform your restroom to create a spa at home. You can do it all in your bedroom, living room, or bath tub with the right tools.
Below we’ll show you ways to recreate a spa environment in the comfort of your home.
How to Recreate a Spa at Home
Here are ways you can recreate a spa at home for you and your loves ones.
#1 Preparation is Key
Having the right tools is important to creating your restorative oasis at home.
Items that you’ll need may include the following:
- Candles
- Diffuser & Essential Oils
- Robe
- Slippers
- Hair Turban
- Silk Eye Mask
- Massage Gun
#2 Take a Bath
Nothing is more relaxing than a warm bath with all the works. We love using fizzy bath bombs and bath salts to relax us while we soak in the tub.
#3 Aromatherapy Works
Changing how our space smells does wonders to the body and mind. We use a diffuser with our favorite essential oils to make our space smell relaxing.
Scents you’ll want to try to include lavender, rose, vanilla, orange, lemon, eucalyptus, peppermint, or tea tree oil.
#4 Get a Foot Spa
This is one of the best things I could have ever done for my very dry feet. I invested in a foot spa and it has been a game-changer ever since. I soak my feet once a week for about an hour.
After soaking my feet, I exfoliate the soles of my feet and use a foot peel. I use the foot peel only once a month. Having refreshed feet is one of the best feelings ever, especially if you are on your feet a lot.
#5 Invest in a Luxurious Robe + Slippers
Having a robe and slippers you can easily slip into are essential to self-care at home.
California Cowboy makes some of the BEST robes ever. Their robes are lined with terry and feels absolutely amazing against my skin.
Their robes can also be worn at home or outdoors while lounging at the pool or river. They have tons of pockets, including one for your favorite champagne and cellphone.
As for slippers, we love ones by Pantuss. They also have slippers with soles that have aromatherapy pads that you can remove and heat up in the microwave. It’s great for those cold winter evenings.
#6 Scrub Your Worries (and dead skin cells) Away
We love a good scrub! Use some aromatic scrubs to gently exfoliate your legs and knees. We love doing this in either the shower or during a foot soak.
We love scrubs by:
- OSD Beauty – Their scrubs smell AMAZING. Check out their coconut and blueberry scrubs.

#7 Have a Drink!
We love a good glass of wine or bubbly when pampering.
Alternatively, you can create a comforting hot tea or refreshing blended beverage with some soda water and your favorite juice.
#8 Play Relaxing Music to Unwind
Music does wonders when it comes to creating a relaxing atmosphere.
I teach gentle and restorative yoga and have created a list over the years that helps me relax and unwind. When in bed, I also play the same playlist because the tunes easily put me to sleep.
You can check out my restorative yoga Spotify playlist here.
