REI and Athleta Partnership Expands Activewear to Retail and Online

REI is one of the best retailers catering to an active outdoor lifestyle in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) and beyond. They make apparel, gear and even offer classes that help prepare and get people exploring the outdoors. Their headquarters are based in Seattle, Washington.

REI launched a curated Athleta collection – and I am beyond stoked! They will be featuring hiking, yoga and swimming apparel in select REI stores and online.

Athleta and REI have been admiring each other for years. “It comes down to two words: common values,” said Chris Samway, chief financial officer and head of strategy and business development for Athleta. “Athleta was created for women who love to get outside and take on new adventures. Twenty years later, that remains core to our brand.”

REI and Athleta share a similar commitments:

• Gender equity in the outdoors (designed by women for women) and,
• Protecting and caring for our outdoor spaces through sustainability.

By 2020, Athleta aims to switch to recycled fabric for at least 80% of its products an making a huge environmental impact. This year alone, their efforts will divert 32 tons of waste from landfills.

They have four seasons coming up and I am excited for what’s to come. Here are my current picks from what’s being offered on their website in the aforementioned categories.

To celebrate the power of this partnership, Athleta and REI will also be holding free Vinyasa yoga events taught by Athleta ambassadors at selected stores in late February and early March.
